Examen de l'iPhone 13 Pro Max : Un écran plus grand, une meilleure autonomie et un meilleur appareil photo

You've probably seen it in the hands of most celebrities lately. The three lenses on the back have become an iconic identifier of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and now the brand new iPhone 13.

The best part about the iPhones 12 and 13? They're both excellent phones and you'll definitely feel an evolution when you buy either one. If you trade in your iPhone 12 for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, you'll notice several differences.

Here's our rundown of those differences.

iPhone 13 Pro Max: what are the improvements?

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is essentially a larger version of the iPhone 13, with some immediately noticeable differences.

Screen size: The iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.70-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display, which is larger than the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12. This effectively makes the phone less comfortable to hold in your hand in terms of size and weight. This does make the phone less comfortable to hold in the hand in terms of size and weight, but consumers are becoming more accustomed to larger phones.

Battery life: Tested by teams from various tech publications, the iPhone 13 Pro Max's battery lasts an average of four hours longer.

This is good news for people who like to game, film and/or stream and have accepted the fact that they also need to carry external batteries with their phone.

The iPhone 13 Pro and the Pro Max are identical in terms of technology and features. All you have to consider in your choice is whether you need or want a bigger screen and a longer lasting battery. If so, lean towards the Pro Max.

Amazing battery life

The iPhone 13 Pro Max's new, larger battery is a powerful beast that you won't be able to easily knock out. Apple claims it lasts 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It's definitely bigger: it's 18.5 percent larger. That puts it at just over a third the size of the Macbook Air's battery.

The Macbook Air has a battery life of nearly 50 hours. On a phone, that's impressive.

This trade-off for iPhones on the big, thick side with better batteries is a good move on Apple's part. There is room for all the technology and lenses without compromising on battery. The iPhone 13 Pro Max's battery is a tiny bit bigger than the Nintendo Switch's, and if you're a gamer, you know how much endurance that is.

We've received feedback from users filming in 4k, using maximum brightness, with over 7 hours of screen time, and not seeing low battery alerts all day and all night. The phone lasts until the next day without needing to be charged.

That's handy on a busy day or a long car or plane ride, when you don't need to plug in until you arrive, or even after.

You can definitely leave your house without worrying about the battery, wondering if you charged your phone and took your external battery.

The A15 Bionic processor is fast and adds to the phone's efficiency and already powerful battery life.

A fantastic low-light camera

As we said above, it's only a matter of screen width and battery life if you have to choose between the iPhone 13 and the Pro Max. The processors and cameras are identical, although the Pro Max offers sharper photos once you zoom in on the details.

But if you're switching from last year's iPhone or even older, the iPhone 13's camera will blow you away with its clarity and colour accuracy.

In bright light, most cameras can perform at their best. But in low light, the iPhone 13 is downright gorgeous, capturing more detail and with even better colour reproduction in evening or darker environments compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

It's the lenses and AI that handle the shadows and highlights. The iPhone 13 captures both without attempting to lighten the shadows. The result is a subtly sharper photo with less noise and more precision in exposure, tone and colour.

On your phone's screen, you may not notice the difference, but once you take a look at the pixel, the detail of the Pro Max may surprise you. It's currently the best camera on the market for capturing low-light photos.

And speaking of pixels, the camera now has an autofocus function that automatically switches to macro at 10 cm from your subject.

As for video, you can shoot "ProRes" video on the Pro Max, and the video quality is magnificent, thanks to the stability of the sensor that gives you great footage no matter what light level you're working with. You also have Cinematic mode, a new camera mode. Cinematic mode is like Portrait mode for video.

"Picture Profiles" is a new camera mode, which allows you to add your own style to the way your iPhone 13 Pro Max takes pictures. You can turn it on or off. You can select one and all of your photos will be able to get that distinctive brightness, coolness, warmth or colour when you shoot, instead of applying a filter afterwards.

In fact, you won't have to edit your photos to add your brand or theme. They'll all have that unified look. Ready for Instagram!

That's our recap on the iPhone 13 Pro Max: the best battery, and to date, the best camera system you can get in a smartphone.
